Getting started

Who will I see for my psychiatry appointment?

Our psychiatric team is led by Dr. Melissa Musec, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist, and includes experienced psychiatric physician assistants (PA-Cs). Dr. Musec works closely with every provider and collaborates on the care of each patient.

What ages do you treat?

Our medical providers see patients ages 4 and up, including children, teens, adults, and older adults.

What is a psychiatric physician assistant?

A physician assistant (PA-C) is a nationally certified medical provider. Our psychiatric PAs focus on mental health: they perform evaluations, diagnose conditions, order lab work, prescribe medication, and provide ongoing medication management, all in collaboration with Dr. Musec.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit is a thorough evaluation of your medical and mental health history. We also get to know you personally, because your daily environment, stress, and long-term habits matter. The evaluation may include discussion of possible diagnoses, ordering lab work, and requesting prior records. Treatment planning is ongoing and builds over multiple visits; your plan will adapt as you do.

How do I become a new patient?

Use the New Patients button at the top of any page to complete our secure online registration, or call us at (847) 450-6393. A wellness coordinator will help you schedule your first appointment.

What conditions do you treat?

We treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, sleep difficulties, eating disorders, substance use, and perinatal and postpartum mood disorders.

Appointments & scheduling

How do I schedule or reschedule an appointment?

Existing patients can request appointments online using the Existing Patients button or through the patient portal. You can also call our wellness coordinators at (847) 450-6393.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments incur a fee that is not covered by insurance, is non-refundable, and is added to your bill.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant video visits through Doxy.me. Each provider has a unique room link that is the same for every appointment; just click it at your appointment time. No downloads or account creation required.

What are your office hours?

Our office is open Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Central Time), and closed on weekends. Appointments are available in person and by telehealth during these hours. Call (847) 450-6393 and we'll find a time that works.

Insurance & billing

Do you accept insurance?

We are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicare. You may still be responsible for copays, deductibles, and coinsurance. For all other plans we are out-of-network and can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement.

What are your self-pay rates?

A psychiatric intake is $600 and a psychiatric follow-up is $300. Payment is due prior to or at the time of service. We are not able to offer sliding-scale rates for psychiatry services at this time.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed statement of the services you received, including diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure (CPT) codes and charges. You can submit it to your insurance company to request out-of-network reimbursement; coverage is determined by your insurer and is not guaranteed.

How do I pay my bill?

Payments are made through an encrypted credit card processing system, and an active card is required on file to schedule. We do not accept cash, checks, Zelle, or Venmo. You can also view statements and pay through the patient portal.

Who do I contact with billing questions?

Email billing@musecmedical.com or call our billing line at (847) 653-6184.
